Coastal, Country and Harbour Walks
Many people choose to holiday close to Chichester and the South Downs for the scenic and varied walks the area has to offer. With rolling hills to the north and the coast to the south, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to walking trails. With endless amounts to choose from, we share our top three, promising breathtaking views and peaceful surroundings, with the odd pub along on the way.
Warehead Farm to Halnaker Windmill – Mill Lane (Old Roman Road) – 1.15km
Halnaker Windmill us one of the most well known landmarks in Sussex and visible from miles around. The windmill has had a large amount of work done to it in the last few years and remains a Grade 2 listed building. At the top of Halnaker Hill is also a scheduled ancient monument and World War II Observation Post.
Directions
From Warehead Farm walk for 600 metres along Stane Street (also known as Mill Lane). This route takes you through a tunnel of trees, stunning in Autumn. Then turn north off the road and walk up the hill for 550 metres to the Windmill.
