EXPLORE CHICHESTER HARBOUR

Itchenor is the perfect village to base yourself in to discover the Harbour. Chichester Harbour Conservancy looks after Chichester Harbour, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, for recreation, leisure, and nature conservation. Tour the harbour aboard the Conservancy’s Solar Heritage – a near silent, solar-powered catamaran which runs regular harbour tours offering a chance for visitors to get closer to the harbour’s wildlife and habitats, often including the seals which live in the harbour.

CATCH THE ITCHENOR FERRY

The tiny Itchenor Ferry connects Itchenor to Bosham, across the harbour, where you can get ready for endless walking and cycling possibilities.

HIKING & CYCLING ROUTES GALORE

There are a number of fabulous walks & bike rides which can be started in Itchenor including the harbour circular – a 13-mile cycle route suitable for riders of all ages and abilities, as it is virtually flat. Itchenor is also on the Salterns Way cycle route which leads to West Wittering beach in one direction and Chichester city centre in the other.

SAILING

Itchenor Sailing Club welcomes visitor, and has visitor moorings available – get in touch well in advance though, especially during Spring and Summer. Sailing courses are available here for the very beginner to more advanced courses. Each summer the harbour is host to one of the most well attended regattas in the country (ISC Regatta) offering plenty of chances to watch the racing.

FOOD & DRINK

The Ship pub is a must visit in Itchenor, whether you’re looking for a great cup of coffee, real ales, refreshing wines and spirits or locally sourced, freshly made food. Just 200 yards from the harbour-side, it’s the perfect location to relax after a walk or bike ride. There’s a sunny terrace and garden for warm days while winter offers cosy log fires to warm you up. Also give the the Quarterdeck Café a try, where you can get excellent tea and coffee, as well as light bites, and delicious lunches.
